Senegal: AI content labelling rules

The rules on labelling AI-generated content in Senegal, what each asks of a file, and what one Kennmarq.com call adds.

In short

  • Images: No general rule found
  • Video: No general rule found
  • Audio: No general rule found
  • Text: No general rule found
  • 3D: No general rule found
  • Rules: 1 for some sectors only.

For journalists and media technicians, publishing a montage of a person's words or image without consent breaches privacy, flagged or not (Press Code art. 17).

Rules for specific sectors

News and broadcast media

  • Press Code (Law 2017-27), Art. 13: In force since 19 August 2017. Flag image and sound montages in what they publish or broadcast; a general editing rule that does not name AI.

In the API

Send markets=sn on each call to POST /v1/mark: a call that lacks what Senegal's rules need is refused before anything is counted, and each mark gets a receipt of what it carries for each law.

What a mark for Senegal carries, by kind of file

ClipWatermark and Content CredentialsWatermark and Content Credentials
SongWatermark and Content CredentialsRefused for now: a song can't carry a visible label, and spoken notices for deep fakes aren't available yet: leave "deepfake" off for songs.
