General rules

EU AI Act, Article 50 (EU): In force since 2 August 2026. Machine-readable, detectable marks on AI output; a clear notice on deepfakes and AI public-interest text.

Rules for specific sectors

News and broadcast media

CNA Audiovisual Content Code (Decision 573/2025), Art. 101: In force since 7 August 2025. A set Romanian written warning throughout artificial images, audio and video; no audible form is set for radio.

Platforms

DSA Art. 35(1)(k) (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) (EU): In force since 25 August 2023. Prominent markings on realistic generated or manipulated images, audio and video shown on their interfaces.

Bills and drafts

Not law: they don't change a country's coverage or what a call needs.

Romania deepfake bill (PL-x 471/2023): Draft: not in force. A warning on 10%+ of the display while shown, or a spoken one at the start and end of audio, in set words.

In the API

Send markets=ro on each call to POST /v1/mark: a call that lacks what Romania's rules need is refused before anything is counted, and each mark gets a receipt of what it carries for each law.
